Relax and Unwind with these Easy Ideas

Posted: May 6, 2022 | By: Stacy Croninger

We all experience stress. Some stress we can control, but that is not always the case and too much stress affects our mental well-being. Finding ways to release the stress you are feeling, especially on a daily basis, will support your mental health, as well as your physical health. There are a plethora of ways to relax and unwind and this list is by no means all the options. Hopefully, this gets you started thinking of ways you can release the stress you feel for a healthier life.

As a side note, doing a quick internet search for relax and unwind returns lots of websites with ideas. The ideas presented her come from Stress.org and Healthline.com.

Meditate

Meditation may feel like a trending or cool thing to do, but it has been around for a long time. And meditation happens in a variety of ways. You can sit in silence with your eyes closed while focusing on your breathing or you can listen to a guided meditation. You can also attend meditation classes or sit outside and experience calm.

Meditation is all about focusing and can be done anywhere at anytime for a short period of time or long. Start simple and create a habit that you can build on.

Practice Mindfulness

Often stress leads our minds to negative thinking, which can distract us from being in the moment. When you are feeling stressed, take a minute or two to focus on one thing, like breathing. By doing this, it brings your thoughts back to the present instead of wandering in the abyss of negative thoughts. This may sound similar to meditating, and it can be, but it is typically much shorter and designed to redirect your thoughts in that moment.

Listen to Music

Listening to music can be either for relaxation or to lift your mood. Both help release stress. If you’re looking to relax, you may want to close your eyes as you enjoy soothing music or music that calms you.

To lift your mood, try music that is peppy or energizing. You may even find that you want to dance it out. Enjoying 15-20 minutes of music is the perfect way to reduce stress and re-energize you so you can take on the world again.

Take a Walk

Going for a walk, even a short one (like around the block) gets you moving and breathing in fresh air. The benefit, it will likely clear your mind and let you focus on other things – like the things you pass on your walk. Another benefit, if it is a sunny day, is getting a good dose of vitamin D, which helps your immune system. Plus, the sun will warm you inside and out.

Laugh Out Loud

How often do you laugh? Only when watching a funny movie or TV show? When you are with family or friends? If you watch children, you’ll notice they laugh a lot and typically over very simple things. Find ways to incorporate laughter into your day. It will lift your spirit, help with wrinkles (give you laugh lines instead of frown lines), and bring joy to your day.

Diffuse Essential Oils

Youngevity offers so many amazing essential oils with a variety of benefits. You can use them individually or combine them. When diffusing, you need a diffuser, water, and essential oils (and maybe a recipe if you want to get fancy). Most essential oils are best diffused for 15 minutes every two hours, as their effects will linger. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

That’s just a few of the essential oils available from Youngevity. If you find that these aren’t to your liking, then search for stress or relax or peace on Youngevity.com and then select Essential Oils to narrow down your results.

We hope these ideas help you cope with your stress and help you find ways to relax and unwind so that you can have a happy and fulfilled life.
