Day two began with Steve and Michelle Wallach expressing how proud they are of our Better Health Challenge winners—these folks have certainly identified their why and found the WILL to make their health goals happen. What a great example they set for us all!
MARILU HENNER ON SETTING UP OUR ENVIRONMENT TO WIN
Michelle introduced our first speaker for the day, Youngevity Ambassador, Marilu Henner, who believes all things in our lives are connected. She conveyed that if small things like your gym bag, clothes, and car are a mess, maybe other bigger aspects of your life are too, so make changes that set up your environment to win. She also gave tips on playing to your strengths, bringing something unique to the equation, and finished with some poignant advice: if something doesn’t feel right, wait 36 hours to confront it. This “lets the air out of the balloon,” gives us a fresh perspective, and can turn a negative scenario into a positive one.
LUIS AND EVELIA ARRIAZA, SHERYL MORLEY, AND 300 CLUB QUALIFIERS
Next up, Alex Theis introduced field speakers Luis and Evelia Arriaza, who offered advice on growing personally to become more attractive and valuable in the market. We then recognized our 300 Club qualifiers for their terrific business-building efforts, followed by a presentation of the Rising Star Award to Dr. Lisa Singletary. And next, Sean Brown introduced Black Diamond Ambassador, Sheryl Morley, who provided tips on staying on track with our nutrition and health.
STEVE WALLACH PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT + RISING STAR REBECCA DUKES KOZAK
Soon after, Steve Wallach presented two big product line extensions in the Youngevity family of brands: our collagen line and our sanitizer line (stay tuned for a full blog recap on our new products coming soon!). This was followed by another Rising Star Award presentation to Rebecca Dukes Kozak.
SANJEEV DOCTOR PANEL
Our health and nutrition expert, Sanjeev Javia (coach Jeevers), then conducted an interview with three renowned doctors, each a leading expert in their field. Below, we break down their main points.
Dr. Joanne Conaway—she explained that all health starts in your gut, which really starts with a proper diet. She expounded on the importance of eating all-natural, whole foods to support the right bacterial balance and recommended organic leafy greens, which are loaded with fiber and have minimal sugar. Dr. Conaway also shared that 80 percent of serotonin (“the happy chemical”) is produced in the gut. So a good diet not only benefits the body, but it also helps the brain help you feel your best. Food for thought!
Dr. Jim Silliman—he stressed that joints can only be nourished by movement, and we shouldn’t just focus on one area of mobility. He recommends trying different exercises, and actually strives for matching his daily number of pushups with his age. Even getting up off the floor (complex movement) is beneficial for joints and muscles, which are actually connected to our neurological system. This means positive movement can also impact cognitive function.
Dr. Dwight Lundell—this heart expert clarified that cholesterol is not the problem, it’s what he calls the three Cs: Coke, Crisco, and Corn Flakes. You get tons of sugar from Coke (nine whole tea spoons!), which can lead to a number of health issues. Crisco Oil causes inflammation, a key factor that can lead to heart disease. And when it comes to corn flakes, Dr. Lundell simply says healthy, whole grains is a lie, and that this popular cereal is full of sugar that also contributes to damaging inflammation. His parting words? “If it’s being served through your driver side window, it’s probably not good for you!”
KEYNOTE SPEAKER, MICHAEL BERNOFF
We then moved on to keynote speaker, Michael Bernoff. Michael believes nothing can stop vision, so much so that even when the world is on hold, your goals never should be. As he explained, opportunity is all over the world for those with a vision to see it, and that it often starts at the point of despair. Just when everything seems to be going wrong, along comes a company like Youngevity to offer the magic “H” word (hope). One of the key things he’s learned observing the Wallach family is the importance of consistency. In fact, he implores us to start by slowing down. That’s how you avoid burning out too quickly and create a lasting impact like Youngevity has for nearly 25 years. He ended by posing a challenge to our audience. Share one part of Youngevity with someone, and ask them this simple question: is everything in your life where you want it right now? Don’t be afraid of them saying “no” when you offer a Youngevity solution, and don’t come on too strong with tons of information. Instead, focus on offering belief in people and teaching them to have faith in themselves. That’s how you build rapport, provide hope and opportunity, and secretly turn that “no” into a “yes.”
A FITTING END TO AN AMAZING DAY
We then wrapped up the general sessions with our last Rising Star Award, which was presented to Dora Ortiz, who was initially inspired to join Youngevity because of her husband’s success using our 90 For Life System. What better way to end an eventful afternoon?
Again, we really appreciate the instant feedback and comments from you all! Your participation in this event means everything! Be on the lookout for the day three blog recap on Monday.
