Why everyone should JOIN Walktober!
Walking is for EVERYONE
Every year for the month of October our Better Health Challenge community comes together for Walktober. During this month, we focus on establishing healthy movement habits that you can carry with you for the rest of your life. The benefits of walking are countless, and it’s one of the simplest things you can do to support your health. For this Walktober, our team will share a tip or challenge every day to keep you engaged, but there are many reasons to join, here are just a few.
Give Your Mental Health a Boost
Staying physically active is essential to a long and healthy life. Previous research has shown that moderate exercise improves cognitive function in healthy adults. The study looked at close to 3,000 women over the age of 65 who were asked to answer several preliminary questions; including how often they exercised. What was found, was the more physically active the woman was, the better she performed on cognitive tests given to her.
Get more Vitamin D
Walking outside not only offers a beautiful view of wherever you’re doing your walk, but it also provides you with essential Vitamin D your body needs. So many individuals around the world suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. A daily walk could give you a quick boost of the sunshine vitamin which supports so many aspects of your health including your immune system.
Get to know your Neighborhood
So many of us have lived in our homes for years and don’t know a whole lot about who lives next door. A smile or a hand wave can lead to a conversation and new friends. You never know who can fill your life with joy until you get to know them.
Make it your learning time
Walks are a great time to plug in your headphones and listen to a podcast. There are so many great podcasts out there that can help with your mindset, business, and health. Some great ones to start with are Huberman Lab, Mindset Mentor, and The Business Growth Podcast. Make this a time to move and help you grow.
Walktober is not only a time to change your movement habits, but also to support many areas of your life. Maybe you’ll start exercising more, maybe you’ll grow your business. So join us October 1st and see where this opportunity takes you!
