cooler weather takes us outdoors

Every season brings new weather and new activities, and fall, is no exception. You may have already started to notice cooler mornings and shorter evenings. The fall weather makes it an ideal time to start venturing outside for long walks, hikes, and bike rides. It’s the perfect time to start a new routine and new fitness goals.

get outside and enjoy the weather

Maybe it’s running out your door for a morning jog before the kids wake up. Maybe it’s going for an evening walk to wind down from the day. It’s cooling down and so it’s more comfortable to enjoy the outdoors. Join the Walktober Fitness Challenge that will help you stay committed to daily walks, hikes, and other daily movements. Post your photos and use the hashtag #ygywalktober on Instagam or tag YGY Better Health on Facebook to get shout outs and perks.

Set alarms and reminders

Darker mornings ands shorter evenings means sleeping in more. And the biggest excuse for skipping workouts is missing your alarm. So skip the snooze button or set a reminder for the afternoon. Once your body adjusts to the new cycle, your new fall routine will become a habit.

Join a group

Working out is easier and often more enjoyable when you’re around others with similar goals. You encourage each other and keep each other accountable. Crossfit gyms, yoga studios, and running clubs are great places to meet others who are on your same wave length. If you’re looking to try something new this fall, these are great options!

Supplement Your New Routine

Make sure you’re also giving your body the nutrition it needs to keep up with your new fall routine. Try some pre-workout to help get your body moving and then add a protein shake after your workouts. Plus, turmeric and other antioxidants can help support recovery and may also help combat any oxidative stress.

If you need even more motivation, make sure and follow our Better Health Challenge Facebook Page. You’ll find a community of individuals with similar health goals. Plus, there are workout routines, recipe ideas, and a little inspiration to keep you on track. And remember, if one fitness routine isn’t working, try something else! Fall makes it a great time to open up to new experiences.
