Ingredients:
1 tbsp butter
1kg/2 lb ground beef
1 red bell pepper, finely diced
1 large brown/yellow onion, finely diced
6 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce/ketchup (use sugar free options or passata for a healthier option)
2/3 cup water
2 tbsp brown sugar or coconut sugar or maple syrup
2 tsp Tex-Mex Rub
3 tsp Chili Spice
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp Chili & Lime Sea Salt Flakes
dash of chili sauce, optional
Directions:
Heat butter in a large pan over med/high heat. Add beef and brown, breaking apart into crumbles as it cooks. Transfer to a colander and drain. Add onion and pepper to same pan and cook 2-3 mins. Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add beef back to pan and add tomato paste. Stir well.
Add ketchup, water, brown sugar, Tex-Mex Rub, Chili Spice, Chili & Lime Sea Salt Flakes, and Worcestershire sauce; stir well to combine. Cook over medium heat for 10-15 mins or until mixture has thickened to your liking. Remove from heat and serve on toasted buns.
