There’s never been a better time to be a coffee drinker! New research shows you may get more from daily cup of joe. Most coffee drinkers know that coffee does offer some health benefits however, a study from the UK Biobank found that two to three daily cups of most coffee types could provide you with protection against heart disease and even premature mortality. With 1 billion worldwide coffee drinkers, there’s much to look forward to with every cup of coffee you drink!

ground, instant, or decaffeinated

The study showed that there was “significant risk reductions” in coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, and stroke for ground, instant, and decaffeinated coffee. However, when it comes to early mortality, ground coffee showed the greatest benefit if supporting your lifespan.

Here’s how it breaks down by category:

– Ground coffee decreases mortality risk by 27%

– Decaffeinated coffee reduces risk by 14%

– Instant caffeinated coffee reduces risk by just 1%

Previous research also reveals that consuming around four daily cups of black coffee reduces the chances of heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, type 2 diabetes, liver disease, and prostate cancer. But it’s important to note that this new study was purely observational, which means it doesn’t conclusively show a direct cause and effect. All of this begs the question: Does coffee make you healthier or do healthier people tend to drink coffee? We’ll wait for more research but until then, keep drinking your coffee!
