Coffee, Your Weight Loss Friend

Spring is here, and summer is right around the corner! That means that we all are trying our hardest to get our bodies out of winter mode and into summer mode! What better way to do that than choosing to eat healthier, and consume products that help us boost our metabolism and lose weight? We know that coffee gives us energy, but did you know that coffee may also boost your metabolism?

A test conducted by the National Center for Biotechnology found that metabolic rate increased significantly in individuals three hours after coffee consumption, and significant increases in fat oxidation took place during the last hour of the test. This means that consuming a cup of coffee before a workout has the possibility of increasing the effects of your workout! When we make the decision to lose weight, we want it to happen fast, which isn’t always a reality, but maybe coffee can help … along with the hard work, of course.

Caffeine may be the number one active metabolism boosting ingredient in coffee, but it is not the only active ingredient that can give your metabolism a jump-start. Coffee also contains chlorogenic acid which, according to Kris Gunnar’s in an article for Authority Nutrition, may help slow your body’s absorption of carbohydrates. Other ingredients in coffee, such as theobromine and theophylline, are both substances closely related to caffeine and may also aid in the jump-starting of your body’s metabolism.

So, don’t forget your coffee this spring, to help prepare yourself for the rapidly approaching summer season! It’s easy to forget coffee when the weather starts to get warmer, but pouring your favorite coffee over ice is a great way to turn your warm beverage into a refreshing cooler!

Youngevity also has a new brand of weight management products announced in March – RicoLife. The primary nutritional differentiator for RicoLife has been its use of camellia sinensis, commonly known as “purple tea.” Purple tea is a variety of green tea developed in Kenya and its perceived benefits have been the subject of an initial small-scale clinical study in Japan. RicoLife products include tea, coffee, cleanses, energy and slimming supplements – all containing some form of camellia sinensis. Check it out!
