Make Time for Fitness AND Your Family During the Holidays
Fitness starts at any age
You may think that you’re the only one who wants to stay active during the holidays, but many other members of the family, especially little ones, may also be interested. Children are incredibly smart and learn very quickly from observing and following a parent, aunt/uncle, or older sibling. There is truly nothing holding a child back from being physically active once they begin to crawl and move around more. By involving your children in your exercise routines at a young age, they will see fitness as a part of everyday life and be more motivated to stay physically active the rest of their lives.
Let Your kids join your workouts
We have access to so many online workouts. While you’re at home with the family, put something on they can follow along with. Or, simply let them hang out while you put on a workout DVD or any other at-home exercise routine and let them get inspired.
Take them on a run
Have you ever done a 5K or half marathon and had a kid run past you? Kids love running! If you’re trying to get in shape, kids make great running partners. So don’t underestimate their endurance when you go out on your next jog. Plus, taking them on a run or long walk with you will mean they’ll be ready for a nap in the afternoon and be better sleepers in the evening.
Go on some snow hikes
Hikes are full of wildlife and beautiful plants that will make it a great experience for everyone. Plus cooler, winter weather makes it perfect to head up a mountain – snow is a plus! You can make it as difficult as you want if you’ve got a lot of family joining. Just remember to wear lots of warm clothes and pack a lot of snacks.
Remember, fitness is essential to your health
The thing about being active, is that there are countless health benefits that come along with it. Not only will you be stronger, less stressed, and more energized, but so will your family. Children who are more physically active tend to do better in school, sleep better, and have better self-esteem. Plus, you can reward them with a nice cup of Youngevity Hot Chocolate. It will be the perfect way to treat them without any bad ingredients.
Remember, keep stress levels low during the holidays and stay on track with your fitness!
